Ik quote hier even de post van Str1ker2, die hij enkele dagen terug poste op het IW forum. Ik ben het weer eens helemaal met hem eens:

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is actually the biggest investment Infinity Ward has ever made into the PC version of our games. It’s also the most feature-rich PC version we’ve ever made. IWNET takes the benefits of dedicated servers and allows them to be utilized and accessed by every player, out of the box, while removing the barrier to entry for players unaware of how to maintain a server on their own.
So why not show us these new features? When call of duty 4 has 20,000 dedicated servers running, who is worrying about how to maintain a server? The PC community in general uses dedicated servers. If you haven't noticed Counter-Strike, Day of Defeat, Team Fortress 2 and so on use dedicated servers. It's how we play, you act like we've never used a dedicated server before. If we wanted to play like consoles, didn't anyone stop to think we probably would have bought a console?
How does it do this?
Matchmaking & Smoother Gameplay: When you want to player a multiplayer game on PC, in the past. You’d have to scroll through a Server Browser which listed every available server which was hosted by individual server admins. Each had their own private rules, mods, or ways of playing the game. Most players would also use the server browser to find just the best quality game (based on PING). With IWNET matchmaking, it takes all that into account for you. All you have to do is select the playlist (pre-set gametypes with custom rules) that fits the style of play you are in the mood for. When you do, it will automatically find you a game with the best performance, ping, and preferences based on your location and individual connection as well as matching you with players of your same SKILL. So you’re always guaranteed the best game performance for where you are and what connection you’re playing on as well as an equal game with other players of your same skill level, not rank, but skill level. It doesn’t mean you’ll just be thrown into a random game! It will put you in the game that will give you the smoothest gameplay possible without you having to manually find a server with the best ping.
Do you realize that PC gamers like to scroll through the list? It's how we play with friends 3,000 miles away and still maintain a ping less than 100. Not every server had their own "rules, mods, or way of playing." In fact, many of the servers are just normal servers...perhaps you should try playing the game your company made (Call of Duty 4 - PC). Maybe I'm missing something, but aren't we already guaranteed the best connection with dedicated servers? Last I checked, you can sort by ping. With matchmaking you are actually depending on the host who now has a ping advantage over everyone in the room. Do you honestly think you can rate "skill" in a first person shooter? I'm curious because you can't rate skill in a first person shooter. Gametypes like CTF have variables such as "runners" and "support." A runner is not going to be getting as many kills cause they are running rather than supporting. If we are really getting the smoothest gameplay possible, how do we go about playing with people who live in California if I live in New York? Are your really trying to say that the New York player isn't going to have a host advantage if they are hosting?
Playlists and Private Matches: As I described above, Playlists are pre-set game modes and gametypes for public games. If you just want to jump into a public game of Search and Destroy or Hardcore Search and Destroy and you don’t care about fully customizing it, then you can utilize playlists to do that quickly for you. However, say you’re in a clan and you want to play a Clan match with another team, or you want to practice for an upcoming tournament that has specific rules in a private game. Then you can start a Private Match (which is essentially like running your own private server) where you have complete control over the rules, who can join, boot players you don’t want, and essentially control the entire game or tweak it to your liking. Once the rules are set, you can invite the other team in or just start it up with your clan to practice with the custom rules before the match. This now allows you to play custom games out of the box without the need to install mods, find a modded server with the rules you like, or worry about not being in control of the match.
Again, how about you explain how this "Private" game works? Do we literally have to set the rules up every time we want to play another clan? Have you heard of what a pug is with mIRC? I'd explain it, but maybe you can hop on BashAndSlash again and get a little more informed. Cause in all honestly, you can't scrim anymore. Clans scrim all the time, especially teams who are in in CEVO. Do they really have to set up the server rules every time? Even if they could set it up, this whole IW.NET won't work regardless because whoever is the host for the server will have a massive ping advantage during a match. No league on PC is going to support a game where the host has an advantage due to ping over everyone in the room. Again, how is a clan from California supposed to play against people in New York? I'm curious how this works, cause I know it can't work, its not possible with p2p.
Party System and Friendslist: Modern Warfare 2 on PC also makes it much easier if you want to party up with your friends, or again, with your clan for a match. You can utilize the friendslist to see when your friends are online, and invite them to your Party. A Party allows you to move from game to game as a group. It’s great for clan matches, because you can party of with your clan and move from public game to public game together. Or if you’re doing a scrim, party up and invite the other clan (who is in a party) and they’ll all join at once. Set up a private match together and play. It makes setting up scrims or games with friends easier and hassle free.
Again, maybe you don't understand PC gaming. We use services like Ventrilo, TeamSpeak, Xfire and Steam to stay in touch with friends. This party system is actually the opposite of "great" for clan matches. If its a dedicated server, everyone can just join whenever they want or how they want. Now we have to wait for invites to join a server? It's almost astonishing how you really just don't understand the competitive pc community. Why don't you come on BashAndSlash again and let them explain to you how a PC community functions.
Cheat / Hack Free Games: The biggest benefit of using IWnet by far is the fact that you don’t have to worry about joining a server full of aim-bots, wallhacks, or cheaters. Or relying on the server admin of the server to constantly be monitoring, banning, and policing it. Modern Warfare 2 on PC allows us to control the quality of the game much more than ever before as well as utilizing the VAC (Valve-Anti-Cheat) system to keep games clean of hackers and cheaters.
Seriously, it's appalling how much you simply do not know about the PC community. Have you ever even played the PC version of call of duty 4? Since when does anyone join a server full of "aim-bots, wallhacks and cheaters?" What the hell? I have over 1,000 hours on cod4 (xfire tracking) and have yet to meet one. You realize people can cheat on VAC too, right? I have no problem with VAC, but if servers are p2p, now people can't even kick. At least there were kick/server options with dedicated servers.
All in all, IWNET adds a load of new features that the PC version of our games have never had before and allows us an infrastructure to continue to update and improve on the game post-launch.
Again, still waiting on these "features" and you updated cod4 with patches so I'm not sure how this enables you to be able to "update" all of a sudden. In all seriousness Rob, I think what you do is great with the community, but you need to get in touch with the PC side of things. It took 3 weeks before this game was released which was 2 years in development to get any concrete major news about the game. All you have to do is speak with us, that's all we ask. I'm not sure where you get your information from, but the PC community plays on PC for a reason. Dedicated servers are what create a community. Why do you think people are still play Call of Duty 2 so much on PC? The dedicated servers are almost a secondary home for us. It's always there whether day, night, rain or snow. The PC community is defined by dedicated servers. It's almost saddening to think you believe a matchamking system will improve a community.
If you can't understand any of this, may God have mercy on your soul.
